Hardness is 3.
Specific Gravity is approximately 2.6 g/cm3.
Streak is white.
Associated Minerals include shortite.
Distinguishing Features: Crystal habits.
Origin: Named in 1911 after Heinrich Vater, German professor
   of mineralogy.
