Lanthanite-(Ce) is also a rare species at MSH.

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:

Color is usually white.
Luster is vitreous.
Diaphaneity is opaque.
Crystal System is orthorhombic; Pbnb
Crystal Habits include pseudohexagonal stacked tabular crystals.
Cleavage {010} is perfect and {101} is good.
Fracture is (??).
Hardness is 2.5 – 3.
Specific Gravity is approximately 2.8 g/cm
Streak is white.
Associated Minerals include albite, calcioburbankite, garronite,
petersenite and siderite.
Distinguishing Features: Crystal habit.
Origin: Named in 1985 to reflect its lanthanum content.
